President-elect Nicusor Dan said on Thursday that Ilie Bolojan remains his first choice for prime minister.
„Ilie Bolojan remains my first choice for prime minister. (…) It’s part of the technical discussions we will have”, said Nicusor Dan, after attending the solemn session of the Constitutional Court of Romania for the confirmation and validation of the presidential election results.
He emphasised that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) joining the government would give more credibility to a government with a parliamentary majority.
„I met for a few minutes with Mr Grindeanu [interim chairperson of PSD – editor’s note], I did not have a discussion with him. I am glad that the party is open, you know well that he has not made the official decision, but I am glad that he does not exclude entering the government and so there will be some discussions… There are technical discussions that we will have. (…)PSD joining the government would give more credibility to a government with a parliamentary majority and this will be seen also on the level of interest rates that we must of course take,” he said.
