President Klaus Iohannis on Wednesday stated that he will present his position regarding his possible candidacy for the NATO top job on Thursday, within the CSAT [Supreme Council for Country Defence) meeting, and then he will publicly announce his decision taken on this topic.
Iohannis was asked if he will continue with his candidacy to become the next head of NATO, in the context in which Hungary and Slovakia have announced their support for Mark Rutte to occupy the position of Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Romania remaining thus the only country in the Alliance that has not announced support for the Dutch prime minister.
„About NATO, I will tell you more tomorrow. I will present these issues for the first time within the CSAT meeting, and then I will informs the public opinion. I can assure you that tomorrow afternoon you will find out,” Klaus Iohannis told a joint press conference with the president of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
