President Iohannis signs decree acknowledging resignation of Family Minister Gabriela Firea

President Klaus Iohannis on Friday signed a decree acknowledging the resignation of Gabriela Firea as minister of family, youth and equal opportunities and another one appointing incumbent Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Transformation Bogdan- Gruia Ivan acting family minister, write Agerpres.

Firea stepped down on Friday.

She explained her resignation in a social media post.

„I am paying for the guilt of trusting people!” wrote Firea.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu on Friday said that he appreciates the „voluntary gesture” made by Gabriela Firea by her resignation until all aspects related to the case of „horror asylums” are clarified, emphasising that after a discussion with Firea the same day he understood „very clearly” that she, as a minister, has no direct connection with this case.

On Thursday, Marius Budai resigned as labour minister after infractions were found in the system for the protection of the elderly and the disabled.
