On Tuesday, President Klaus Iohannis signed the decree for the promulgation of the Law on the organization and exercise of the profession of geodesist, as well as the establishment of the College of Geodesy in Romania, the Presidential Administration says in a press release.

According to the normative act, the geodesist profession can be exercised by professionals with a higher education diploma in the field of geodesy, recognized by the Romanian state, as well as by Romanian citizens who have obtained such a document in a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area. By way of exception, the profession of geodesist can be exercised by professionals with other certifications and diplomas of studies assimilated to the field of geodesy, recognized by the Romanian state, in accordance with the Regulation on the organization and functioning of the College and the exercise of the profession of geodesist.

The geodesist acquires the right to sign, granted by the College, if he/she fulfills the conditions of honour and professional experience according to the Regulation on the organization and functioning of the College and the exercise of the profession of geodesist.

The execution of specialized works that are subject to reception and approval by the National Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Advertising and subordinate institutions is carried out by natural persons authorized by the National Agency for Cadastre and Real Estate Advertising and subordinate institutions based on a regulation approved by order of the head of this institution.

The execution of specialized works in the other fields of geodesy by natural persons is carried out by issuing the signature right certificate issued by the College. Execution of specialized works, provided for in art. 5, by the legal entities are under the exclusive responsibility of the College, under the conditions of the Regulation on the organization and functioning of the College and the exercise of the geodesist profession.

The current activity of the College is coordinated by the Board of Directors, which is elected by the majority of the members of the National Council.

A representative of the National Cadastre and Real Estate Advertising Agency, appointed by order of its general director, is part of the Board of Directors of the College.

The representative of the National Cadastre and Real Estate Advertising Agency personally participates in the meetings of the Board of Directors of the College, having the right to vote.
