President Iohannis welcomes visiting Moldovan President Maia Sandu at Cotroceni Palace

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu was welcomed on Thursday, at the Cotroceni Palace, by President Klaus Iohannis, according to Agerpres.

Maia Sandu is paying a working visit to Bucharest.

According to the Presidential Administration, the political consultations between presidents Klaus Iohannis and Maia Sandu are part of the comprehensive framework of close bilateral and European cooperation, as well as Romania’s clear and firm support for the Republic of Moldova and its resilience.

Thus, „topics of shared strategic interest will be tackled in the area of energy, transport, health, education or information society, with an emphasis on the initiatives meant to connect the Republic of Moldova with the European Union space, with real and concrete benefits for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” the quoted source shows.

Moreover, also tackled will be Romania’s support regarding the European path of the Republic of Moldova.

On this occasion, the two presidents will exchange views regarding the security challenges, as well as regarding the ways to manage the economic, social and humanitarian effects of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.
