Police in Timiș launched an investigation on Friday after a person announced a fundraiser to assassinate President Nicușor Dan. According to sources at Antena 3 CNN, the individual is reportedly abroad, in Germany.

The message in question was posted on the individual’s Facebook account.

According to a screenshot published by Pagina de Timiș, it stated that “every leu counts.”

In the comments, some users reportedly asked where they could donate money.

Police in Timiș have taken up the case on their own initiative.

Given the images that appeared in the public domain on a social media platform, in which a young man posted that he was organizing a fundraiser for the assassination of a public official, we would like to inform you that the Timiș County Police Inspectorate has taken up the case ex officio and is conducting an investigation to establish the facts and take the necessary legal measures,” the Timiș County Police Inspectorate announced on Friday.
