President Nicusor Dan to meet on Wednesday with coalition leaders and magistrates’ representatives

Published on

President Nicusor Dan will meet on Wednesday, at 16:00hrs with leaders of the governing coalition and representatives of the magistrates at the Cotroceni Palace.

He carried out a discussion on Tuesday regarding prosecutors’ and judges’ pensions.

Prior to that, he said that the magistrates’ pensions had become a topic of „political campaign” and prosecutors and judges are the „scapegoats.”

„Because of this political campaign, they [the magistrates] have become a kind of scapegoat and that is not normal,” the head of state said.

Last Friday, the head of state said that the discussions on this matter are close to reaching a „compromise.”

„From the information I have, the compromise is quite close. (…) There are many aspects under discussion and obviously I will not tell you now each party’s standpoint, what they have conveyed to me. (…) We will have, very likely, a meeting next week regarding several matters related to the current activity, the start of a discussion on the 2026 budget,” President Nicusor Dan said at that time.

Regarding the risk of losing the money from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) because of this milestone, the president conveyed that „we must be optimistic” in this regard. AGERPRES
