The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, is paying a working visit to Romania on Monday and Tuesday, according to Agerpres.
On Monday, Roberta Metsola will have meetings with President Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu and President of the Senate Alina Gorghiu.
At 6.00 pm, the President of the European Parliament will address the Romanian parliamentarians, who will meet in a joint session of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
The interim President of the Senate, Alina Gorghiu, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, and the PM, Nicolae Ciuca, will also deliver speeches before Parliament. Government members, Romanian MEPs and heads of diplomatic missions and international representatives accredited in Bucharest will be invited.
On Tuesday, Roberta Metsola will meet students for an event called „Together we are Europe,” organized by the EP Office in Romania, in partnership with the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest.
According to the higher education institution, on the occasion of their meeting with Metsola, the students will be able to find out what are the benefits of European parliamentary democracy, how they can influence European politics and why it is important to get involved in protecting European democracy, how it affects the decisions and policies adopted by the Parliament European everyday life.
„The event is an opportunity for all young people to interact directly with the President of the only European body elected by direct vote of the citizens and the only transnational Parliament in the world, but also to inspire each other and to exchange opinions,” the University said.
