Presidential hopeful Nicusor Dan says Romania deserves a fair change

Published on

Independent presidential candidate Nicusor Dan said on Tuesday, during a visit to Vaslui County, that in last year’s presidential election the Romanians gave a clear signal that they want change and stressed that Romania deserves „a fair change” that would place it among the strong states.

„It is true that some people rode and hijacked this message, people who want to direct Romania towards Russia. Against the backdrop of this huge desire for change, we have an opportunity to convince people that things as they have been until now are not okay. (…) We must implement change, but while also preserving our democracy and the security guarantees that NATO and our EU membership give us, because this is not only about European money, although this is also extremely important, it is also about rules and a model for modernizing Romania. This is where we are, with an electoral campaign ahead of us that seems much more important than all the electoral campaigns so far. It is an electoral campaign that will decide Romania’s direction for many years to come, precisely because it overlaps with these global resettlements. (…) Your role is extremely important, to go out and convince the people that Romania deserves that correct change which will place us among the strong countries,” Nicusor Dan told the representatives of the People’s Movement Party in Vaslui County.

He also said that he does not believe a resumption of the second round of the presidential election vote is possible, but reiterated the idea that state institutions must provide explanations for the annulment of the 2024 presidential ballot.
