PresidentialElection2025/Catalin Predoiu: Last elections were rigged

Published on

The interim president of the PNL (National Liberal Party), deputy prime minister Catalin Predoiu, on Saturday stated that the presidential elections in November were rigged, emphasising that the thesis that the Liberals and Social Democrats lost the elections is false.

The Liberal leader asked the representatives of the PNL (National Liberal Party) and PSD (Social Democratic Party) to stop being on the defensive, specifying that, in the presidential elections in May, the candidate of the governing coalition has the first chance.

„Why should we be lethargic and why should we be on the defensive? Because some say that we would have lost the November-December elections. Let us, however, say one thing bluntly and get out of this thesis that is completely false! The past elections were rigged elections. The past elections were elections that were perverted in their outcome through manipulations that were not legal, were not transparent, and now, little by little, the state institutions are demonstrating this. Therefore, we no longer have to accept this idea of being on the defensive, of considering ourselves somehow second-rate in this fight, with second-rate chances. We have the first chance and the united force of the two parties, plus UDMR (Democratic Union of Hungarians of Romania), plus minorities, should not cause us any problems,” he said.

Predoiu called on the diaspora to be rational in the upcoming elections and to analyze the offers made by the political opponents of the current governing coalition.

„Our dear fellow citizens in the diaspora, the path you are invited on by our opponents puts an end to your status in the diaspora, your jobs, the money you will send to your relatives back home. I call on you to a rational reflection, esteemed fellow citizens, together with my colleagues, lucidly, to see the steps that this country has taken before and has taken through these two parties, through a government that has achieved its objectives,” added Catalin Predoiu.
