The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) validated on Friday the result of the first round of the presidential election, held on May 4.

According to a CCR press release sent to AGERPRES on Friday, within the framework of verifying the procedure for electing the President of Romania and giving effect to the powers outlined in the Constitution of Romania, and taking into account the vote cast in the first round of the 2025 presidential election, the constitutional judges unanimously decided to confirm and validate the results of the election for the office of President of Romania, in the first round held on May 4, 2025.

Also on Friday, the Constitutional Court of Romania dismissed as unfounded the request to annul the first round of elections, submitted by candidate Sebastian-Constantin Popescu.

Moreover, the Constitutional Court announced the organisation of the second round of voting for the presidential election on Sunday, May 18, with the candidates George-Nicolae Simion and Nicusor-Daniel Dan participating, in this order.
