The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) specifies that, during the electoral campaign, the expenses for the production of political and electoral advertising materials must be borne exclusively by the beneficiaries – independent candidates, political parties and electoral alliances, and any expense made by other persons for the promotion of such candidates is strictly prohibited.
AEP also announces that it will publish on the website www.finantarepartide.ro, weekly, every Friday, the contributions and committed expenses declared by the coordinating financial agents of the electoral competitors.
According to a press release on Friday, AEP informed about „the importance of observing the principles of financing electoral campaigns regarding the transparency of income and expenses, the integrity of political and electoral competition and equal opportunities.”
„In this regard, AEP informs the public that, during the electoral campaign, the expenses for the production of political advertising materials/electoral propaganda materials are borne exclusively by their beneficiaries, namely independent candidates, political parties and electoral alliances. Any expense borne by other persons on behalf of or for the promotion of an electoral competitor, regardless of the distribution medium (offline or online), is prohibited and is sanctioned with a fine from 10,000 RON to 25,000 RON, according to art. 52 item (1) of Law no. 334/2006 on the financing of the activity of political parties and electoral campaigns, republished, with subsequent modifications and supplements,” the same source shows.
At the same time, according to the abovementioned source, the equivalent value of the amounts spent by other persons on behalf of or for the promotion of an electoral competitor, which were the subject of the contravention, will be confiscated and transferred to the state budget.
The Permanent Electoral Authority also informs that, during the electoral campaign, all types of political advertising and electoral propaganda materials, regardless of the distribution medium – offline or online, must comply with the legal provisions regarding their marking and labeling.
„The promotion, distribution, publication or editing of political advertising materials/electoral propaganda materials is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Permanent Electoral Authority Decision no. 9/2025, which can be consulted on the institution’s website, by accessing the following link: https://www.roaep.ro/legislatie/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/HAEP-nr.-9-2025.pdf,” specifies the AEP.
AEP mentions that, „in order to make electoral income and expenses transparent,” it will publish on the website www.finantarepartide.ro, weekly, every Friday, the contributions and expenses declared by the coordinating financial agents of the electoral competitors.
„Compliance with the legal provisions regarding the income and expenses of political parties, electoral alliances and independent candidates, as well as the legality of electoral campaign financing is verified by the Department for the Control of Political Party and Electoral Campaign Financing within AEP, and the results of each control are published on the website www.finantarepartide.ro,” AEP also specifies.
