Presidential candidate Nicusor Dan on Sunday told a press conference in Sibiu that Romania must strengthen both its state and its army, in order to be able to matter externally, in the context in which „there is a reconfiguration of the poles of power.”
„First of all, we see that we have a global situation that is much more dynamic than the one we have been used to for years. It is a reconfiguration of the poles of power. Unfortunately, Romania is missing from the decision-making process. In fact, Romania has become accustomed to the fact that it is missing, in the recent years, from the table where major decisions are taken. My point of view is that we must strengthen the state because only a strong state can have a say. And when I say strong, I mean from an institutional point of view and from the point of view of its military capacity. In both, we must strengthen the state in order to be able to matter,” Nicusor Dan specified.
According to Nicusor Dan, „we must without question maintain the Euro-Atlantic direction, we must maintain and try to strengthen the strategic partnership with the United States and, of course, we must continue to be members and influence decisions within the European Union.”
