The announcement was made at a press conference held by USR vice president Dominic Fritz.

„For us, it is very clear that there is no longer possible for Elena Lasconi to reach the second round, and that is why today, at the National Bureau meeting, we decided to convene a Political Committee meeting, where we will vote on supporting an independent for the office of president of Romania, considering the real danger Romania is currently facing. It is a painful decision for USR, one that we did not take lightly, but we need to be responsible and put our country’s interest first,” stated Dominic Fritz.
