Friday is the last day in which the two candidates in the final race for the Cotroceni seat can still campaign.
According to the election calendar, the campaign for the electoral competitors who reached the second round of voting began on May 9, after the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) validated the result of the first round, and ends on Saturday, May 17, at 7.00 am.
The Permanent Electoral Authority urged the electoral competitors to contribute to the conduct of a „fair, honest and transparent campaign, which will meet the democratic expectations of citizens.”
In the second round of the presidential elections, which takes place on Sunday, May 18, George Simion (the candidate of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians) and Nicusor Dan (an independent candidate) will face off.
Their score in the first round of voting, according to the final data transmitted by the Central Electoral Bureau to the CCR, was as follows:
* George Simion (Alliance for the Union of Romanians) – 3,862,761 votes (40.96%)
* Nicusor Dan (independent) – 1,979,767 votes (20.99%).

In the diaspora, Friday is the first day of voting.
The polling stations open at 7,00 am local time.
The first polling station abroad to open is the one organized in New Zealand, in Auckland. Here, the voting process began on Thursday evening, at 10.00 pm (Romania time).
Continuing electoral propaganda after the end of the electoral campaign is prohibited.
