Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced that Friday’s government meeting will look at the legislative changes regarding the e-Invoice, e-Transport and e-VAT system, stressing that digitization means simplification for businesses and the combat of tax evasion by the state.
„The changes related to the e-Invoice, e-Transport and e-VAT system are the most awaited point on the agenda. Turning the state system digital doesn’t mean more bureaucracy and more administrative issues for the business environment, but quite the opposite, digitization must be an aid to the economy. Digitization means simplification for companies and the fight against tax evasion by the state. Therefore, Mr. Minister, any project must be first discussed with those concerned. I understand that you have consulted with accounting experts and the business milieu and today you are coming with a set of changes to adjust to reality. After the government meeting, I would like you to publicly explain in detail how you corrected this regulatory act,” Ciolacu said at the beginning of the meeting.
He added that the Finance Ministry also has a change in the making to regulations regarding the tax facilities applicable in the case of the minimum wage, the value of the meal vouchers, respectively the food allowance.
„These benefits are excluded from the calculation of the RON 4,000 threshold. Thus, we protect the purchasing power of all employees collecting the minimum nationwide wage. Today we will also freeze the fine point, so that it doesn’t increase with the minimum wage,” Ciolacu said.
The prime minister also mentioned that „important clarifications will be made to the law banning slot machines in towns with less than 15,000 residents” so as to close a loophole that was used by those who tried to circumvent the gambling legislation.
According to the head of the government, at Friday’s government meeting, „the reorganization process of all ministries will be completed within the committed deadline.”
