Romania is a „reliable ally” for Luxembourg, declared, on Monday, the prime minister of the Grand Duchy, Xavier Bettel, during a joint press conference with visiting president Klaus Iohannis, according to Agerpres.

He stated that, soon, 25 Luxembourgish soldiers will join NATO Battle Group Five.

We need to strengthen our defense at the NATO level, said Bettel.

The high official reaffirmed his support for Romania’s accession to the Schengen area, which is, „unfortunately, questioned by others”.

Romania is a candidate that is ready to join Schengen, Xavier Bettel added.

President Klaus Iohannis is in Luxembourg on Monday. He is going to participate, as a keynote speaker, in the inaugural edition of the European Investment Bank Group Forum.
