The leaders of the PSD, PNL, UDMR and the parliamentary group of national minorities announce that they have agreed on measures and principles of the future government program, emphasizing reforms and investments, reducing state expenditures.
„The leaders of the main pro-European parties in Romania met today at the Victoria Palace to agree on the principles of the future government program. PSD, PNL, UDMR and the Group of National Minorities agreed that the new government program be one of reforms and investments, a program to reduce state expenditures and to modernize Romania. The principles of the government program aim at macroeconomic sustainability and predictability in agreement with the expectations of the business milieu, trade unions and civil society. At this turning point, the parties that assume the responsibility of governance are aware that Romania must be, without compromise, worthy of the sacrifices and ideals of the Revolution of 1989 and the expectations of the citizens in 2024. Thirty five years since the collapse of the communist regime, we must demonstrate that democracy means more than promises – it means responsibility, equity and concrete measures that are reflected in people’s everyday lives. In this context, we firmly support the need for a fair balance of responsibilities: the state is for the citizen, and not the citizen for the state. This fundamental principle not only guides us, but obliges us to take decisive and concrete actions”, informs a press release sent to the national news agency.
