PSD’s Ciolacu congratulates UK Labour Party on victory in general elections, calls Starmer excellent leader

Published on

Romania’s Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, national leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), has congratulated the UK Labour Party on its victory in the general elections, voicing confidence that he will work closely with the Labour national leader, Keir Starmer.

„Congratulations to the Labour Party on its important victory. Social democracy is on the rise,” Ciolacu wrote in a social media post.

About Starmer, he says that he has proven to be an excellent leader, voicing confidence that they will work closely.

The UK is a strategic partner and home to thousands of Romanians, Ciolacu added.

Labour won the general elections on Thursday, ending 14 years of Conservative power and opening the doors of Downing Street 10 to their leader, Keir Starmer, according to the AFP news agency.

Exit polls left few doubts about the outcome of the vote, which opens a new chapter in the country’s political history.
