Social Democratic Party (PSD) interim chairman Sorin Grindeanu announced on Friday that consultations begun with key stakeholders in the justice system to rapidly draft a bill on magistrates’ pensions that meets the expectations of Romanians and unblocks the 231 million euro tranche from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) by 28 November.
‘Constructive dialogue today in Parliament with all the key actors in the justice system. As I publicly announced, I have initiated consultations with a view to quickly drafting a bill on magistrates’ pensions, one that truly meets the expectations of Romanians and unblocks the 231 million euro tranche from the PNRR [the National Resilience and Recovery Plan] by 28 November. My initiative pursues two clear objectives: unblocking the situation in the justice system and forming a working group of specialists, under the coordination of Parliament, to swiftly identify a constitutional legislative solution. I thank President of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) Elena Costache, President of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) Lia Savonea and Prosecutor General Alex Florenta, for their openness. I also appreciate the involvement of the Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, the Minister of Labour, Florin Manole, and Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacsu,’ Grindeanu wrote on Facebook.
He added that in politics, dialogue is the only path to achieving long-term results.
‘I am a politician who rejects narrow-mindedness and stubbornness, because they never lead to viable outcomes. This process must be carried through to the end, together with all those who are interested and acting in good faith. That is why I also invite the other coalition leaders to be actively involved in finding the solution. We must use all parliamentary means to achieve a real and constitutional solution to a serious problem,’ he concluded. AGERPRES
