President Nicusor Dan actively contributed to the formation of the governing coalition, interim Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Sorin Grindeanu stated on Wednesday, wanting to underscore that he has nothing to reproach to the head of state.
„I say him yesterday, there is no secret, you all know it. I understood from him that he interrupted his vacation to attend the Diplomacy Meeting, returning, as he was with his family at the Romanian seaside. And, probably, as of next week, he will resume his regular activity. (…) [On Tuesday] there was a coalition meeting, which was supposed to close the measures in the second Package. And we were announced that the President wants to attend. He came, but he only discussed with me and Mr. Bolojan,” Sorin Grindeanu mentioned in a broadcast at Digi 24 private television station.
Asked about the discussion, Sorin Grindeanu said it would be inappropriate to provide details.
„I don’t think it is fair. I saw that the other two participants avoided elaborating. It is a matter that, I believe, it’s best to remain as a form of political dialogue, let’s say, after a few weeks without meeting and as a way for the President to feel the pulse regarding what the second Package means,” Grindeanu stated.
According to him, „the relations have been as correct as possible.”
„Since he took over the office at Cotroceni, I, certainly, took over the interim presidency of the PSD, the relations have been as correct as possible. I have absolutely nothing to reproach, he wanted, ever since that time, since the beginning of his tenure, and actively contributed to the formation of this coalition, which is a good thing, afterwards periodic constructive meetings were carried out. During this period, he was quite Ok,” the PSD leader explained.
