Today we celebrate Financial Literacy Day in a context marked by volatility and rising speed of change in the economy and society. Good economic and financial education is essential both for citizens and for the quality of economic policy decisions, president Klaus Iohannis said in a message on Tuesday, write Agerpres.
The president says that the National Financial Literacy Day brings to the fore the need for an adequate level of knowledge and skills regarding the management of financial resources, as an essential step in ensuring the economic and social well-being of citizens and the country as a whole. He also says this day is a good opportunity to reflect on the way the provision of economic and financial education truly meets the skills needed in today’s economy.
„The quality of economic policies, laws and governance must be based on sound economic education, which should generate responsible decisions and measures that will bring us back in a sustainable manner to monetary stability and macroeconomic balances.
Financial education is also an indispensable means to achieve essential national objectives, such as the sustained growth of financial intermediation, the competitive development of the capital market and the consolidation of a sustainable insurance system in Romania,” president Iohannis added.
