Retail trade volume, except trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased by 4.5% in Romania, unadjusted, in the first nine months of 2022, y-o-y, show data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), according to Agerpres.
Rising volumes January 1 to September 30, 2022, were reported in retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+9.1), non-food products (+4.5%) and food, beverages and tobacco (+1.9%).
When adjusted for working days and seasonality, the retail trade volume increased overall by 5.6% on rises in the retail sale automotive fuel in specialised stores (+9.2%), non-food products (+4.3%) and food, beverages and tobacco (+3.7%).
INS data reveal that in September 2022 as against September 2021, retail trade volume, except trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted, increased by 2.5% on increases in the retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+13.6%) and non-food products (+1.5%). On the other hand, retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 3.1%.
When seasonally adjusted, the increase was 3.2%, y-o-y, on rising retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+14, 1%) and of non-food products (+1.8%). In contrast, retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.2%.
According to official statistics, the unadjusted September 2022 retail trade volume, except trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles, decreased by 3.6% on a monthly basis, as a result of the falling retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco (-8.3%), automotive fuel in specialised stores (-2.2%) and non-food products (-0.4%).
When adjusted for working days and seasonality, it was down 0.8% on falling retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco (-1.6%) and non-food products (-0.8%). Retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores increased by 3.1%.
