Romania’s retail trade volume, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased by 3.8% in the first four months of 2025, year-on-year, unadjusted, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Thus, between January and April 2025, there were increases in sales of non-food products (+5.8%) and retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+3.1%). On the other hand, sale of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 1.5%.
Seasonally adjusted, retail trade volume increased by 3.8%, due to sales of non-food products (+7.2%), retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+1.4%) and sale of food, beverages and tobacco (+0.1%).
Compared with April 2024, April 2025 retail trade volume, except of trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted, reported an overall increase of 0.4%, as a result of sale of non-food products (+0.8%) and retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+0.4%). On the other hand, sale of food, beverages and tobacco levelled out.
Seasonally adjusted, the increase was 3.1%, amid positive developments in retail sale of non-food products (+6.7%) and retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+2.8%). On the other hand, sale of food, beverages and tobacco decreased by 0.7% year-on-year.
On a monthly basis, March 2025 retail trade volume except of trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased both unadjusted (+1.7%) and seasonally adjusted (+0.4%).
