Revolut reports over four million retail customers in Romania

Published on

Revolut, the global fintech with over 45 million retail customers, has surpassed 4 million retail customers in Romania, its first market in the EU by number of active users and the second largest globally after the United Kingdom, the company reported on Monday.

Over the last seven months, the bank processed an average of 103 million transactions for customers on the local market, with a third of them being card payments (33 million payments)

With an increasing number of customers using Revolut as a main bank account, the customer base has doubled in the last 24 months, from two million active customers in July 2022.

„Revolut is more than an easy-to-use payment method for shopping, whether in-store or on e-commerce platforms. It is the bank on the mobile phone that helps customers manage their entire financial life, starting from the age of six,” according to Gabriela Simion, general manager of Revolut Bank UAB branch in Romania.

Since its release in Romania in 2018, Romanians have confidently turned to instant transfers made with Revolut, both nationally and to other countries, and started to recommend the app for its currency exchanges in over 30 currencies, according to the company.

Romanian customers now have direct access in application to essential products such as cards and payments locally and internationally.

The fintech says that it has made available to Romanian customers highly-rated banking products such as personal loans denominated in the local currency, the leu, loan refinancing, local currency savings accounts paying interest, as well as investment products, such as stocks traded on American and European stock exchanges, ETFs, flexible investment funds denominated in euros, US dollars and pounds sterling.

New benefits have been added for customers who have Premium, Metal and Ultra plans paid subscriptions. Lifestyle and travel products have also been added to the portfolio – travel insurance, coverage for delayed flights, discounts on access to airport lounges, mobile data via eSIM, Revolut Points loyalty programme.
