Right Force supports holding first round of presidential elections simultaneously with parliamentary elections

Published on

The Right Force supports holding the first round of the presidential elections simultaneously with the parliamentary elections, on December 1 or 8, party chairman Ludovic Orban said on Tuesday, after the consultations at the Government.

He said the proposed dates for the second round of the presidential election were December 15 or 22.

„We want the elections to be organised when it is normal, close to the end of the mandate of Parliament and the president,” Ludovic Orban said.

He pointed out that the Right Force „categorically” rejects the solution of organizing the second round of the presidential elections simultaneously with the parliamentary elections.

He also mentioned the said consultations came in too late.

„I told government representatives that this consultation should have taken place at the beginning of the year and not now. At the beginning of the year, the Coalition completely ignored the will of the society, the will of the opposition political parties and established by itself, without any kind of consultation, a deeply unconstitutional electoral calendar that has already caused harmful effects for democracy in Romania, by combining local elections with the European Parliament elections, through an unconstitutional emergency ordinance,” Ludovic Orban said.
