The president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, declared, during a meeting with young Romanians, in the Aula of the Law Faculty, that she would like more women to be in the Bucharest legislature, according to Agerpres.
I think you need a lot more women in politics in Romania. I would like to see more women in your parliament, I would like to see more women leaders. I don’t think you have enough, I think you need to make more efforts in this regard, said Metsola.
Now I go to summits with important leaders, everywhere. At the end of these summits I ask myself: Did we send the right signals or did we come here just to take a picture? I think that our answer and our responsibility is to bring tangible results and we often don’t do that, confessed the president of the European Parliament.
At the end of the one-hour dialogue, Roberta Metsola advised the young people to never give up on the things they believe in.
Your values and principles should accompany you throughout your life, whether you’re a politician or something else, serving a cause you believe in, whether you’re just encouraging your family and friends to vote, or standing up for your cause when you’re denied. I’ve been through a lot, being told ‘Not now’ or ‘Don’t do that’ or ‘Let someone else do that’ or ‘Women don’t do that’. My answer was: that’s how I was raised, that if you believe in something, you do that thing. And if there are people who try to discourage you, don’t give up, never give up on the things you believe in, said the president of the European Parliament.
She spent a lot of time taking photos of young people who were part of the audience at the Faculty of Law.
