Romania can become regional actor in energy, US Sec of Energy Granholm tells Senate’s head Ciuca

Published on

Romania has a „huge” energy potential and can become an important regional actor in this field if it continues to invest in clean energy, is the message sent by the US Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, at the meeting she had on Wednesday, at the Parliament Palace, with the president of the Senate, Nicolae Ciuca.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 5th Ministerial Meeting of the Partnership for Transatlantic Cooperation in the Field of Energy and Climate Change (P-TECC).

„At the ministerial forum, Romania signed two important collaborations with American partners: the development of the project of small modular reactors (SMR) from Doicesti and the use of geothermal resources for heating and hot water in Bucharest,” Ciuca wrote on Facebook.

The meeting was also attended by the minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, and the US ambassador to Bucharest, Kathleen Kavalec.
