Foreign exchange reserves at the National Bank of Romania totaled 63.128 billion euros at the end of February 2024, up by 2.79% compared to the level of 61.416 billion euros on January 31, 2024, according to a statement from the BNR, delivered to AGERPRES on Friday.
In February 2024 there were inflows of 5.529 billion euros, representing: the change in the minimum reserves in foreign currency established by the credit institutions at the BNR, alongside funding the accounts of the Ministry of Finance (including the amounts resulting from the issuance of Eurobonds of the Ministry of Finance with a total nominal value of 4 billion euros), also funding the account of the European Commission and others.
There were also outflows of 3.817 billion euros, representing: the change in the minimum reserves in foreign currency established by the credit institutions at the BNR, installments and interest payments on account of the public debt denominated in foreign currency and others.
The level of the gold reserve remained at 103.6 tons. Under the conditions of international price developments, its value was 6.240 billion euros.
Romania’s international reserves (currency plus gold) on February 29, 2024 were 69.368 billion euros, compared to 67.685 billion euros on January 31, 2024.
The payments due in March 2024 in the account of the public debt denominated in foreign currency, direct or guaranteed by the Ministry of Finance, amount to approximately 163 million euros.
