The uninterrupted relations of friendship between Romania and the State of Israel are based on the deep ties between the two peoples and the common democratic values they share, on Tuesday said prime minister Marcel Ciolacu, in a message sent to the solemn sitting of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies dedicated to the Day of solidarity and friendship between Romania and the State of Israel.
„One of the essential pillars of this close relationship is represented by the Jewish community in Romania and the community of Israeli citizens of Romanian origin. The two communities have left their mark on the culture and civilization of the two states and have contributed to strengthening our bilateral relations,” Ciolacu said.
„Romania was among the first states to recognize the State of Israel and establish diplomatic relations on June 11, 1948. Continuity, predictability and close cooperation in all areas of common interest have characterized our partnership relationship. I want to reassure you that we will continue to work together in the future to develop what we have been able to build over decades. In recent turning points for the State of Israel, Romania has not ceased to stand by the Israeli people. This solidarity was also reflected in the visit to the State of Israel made alongside other Romanian officials shortly after the attack on October 7, 2023. At the same time, the terrorist attacks faced by Israel were condemned in the harshest and most vehement terms and at the highest levels in Romania,” Ciolacu added.
