Romania must be homeland of all its citizens, regardless of ethnicity, religion or language (Senate’s Ciuca)

Romania must be the homeland of all its citizens, regardless of ethnicity, faith or language, the president of the Senate, Nicolae Ciuca, said on Monday.

„I was honored to meet today at the Senate with representatives of Jewish communities from several countries to mark 145 years since the granting of Romanian citizenship to Jews, an important historical moment for Romania and for the Jewish community. This act was a essential milestone on the path of modernity and showed that patriotism is not an ethnic matter, but a civic one, open to all who live in this country,” Ciuca said on Facebook.

The president of the Senate reaffirmed Romania’s commitment to the equal treatment of all citizens, based on the rule of law and respect for fundamental rights.

„Romania must be the homeland of all its citizens, regardless of ethnicity, faith or language. Today we reaffirm our commitment to equal and fair treatment of all citizens, based on the rule of law and respect for fundamental rights”, added Ciuca.
