Romania ranks among top 20 most important economic partners of Germany’s Bavaria

Romania is ranked among the top 20 most important world economic partners of the German land of Bavaria, with trade between the two sides having increased by 9% in the first eight months of 2022, according to data with the Federal Statistical Office of Germany – Destatis, Agerpres reads.

„According to Destatis, the federal statistical office of Germany, economic exchanges between Romania and Bavaria between January and August 2022 amounted to 4.8 billion euros, up 9% year-on-year. Of this amount, 2.1 billion euros were imports from Bavaria, and 2.7 billion euros were exports to Bavaria. Comparatively, the total commercial exchanges for the whole year 2021 amounted to 6.7 billion euros, 3.1 billion euros worth of imports from Bavaria, and 3.6 billion euros worth of exports to Bavaria,” according to a press statement released by the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania) on Friday.

A 17-strong delegation of business executives, officials with the Bavarian State Ministry for Economy, Regional Development and Energy and of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce for Munich and Upper Bavaria visited the cities of Resita, Timisoara and Bucharest October 18-21, to find business partners or to create networks and organisations for future projects, for the development of current projects, and also for a better knowledge of the economic realities in the three cities.

The visit was organised by AHK Romania in collaboration with the Bavarian State Ministry for the Economy and Bayern International – the Bavarian Society for International Economic Relations MBH, being, at the same time, an opportunity to celebrate 20 years of presence in Romania of the Bavarian Representation.

The areas of interest were mainly circular economy, environmental technology, smart solutions for production, environment and energy efficiency. The visiting companies operate in mechanical engineering and installations (electronic components, cabling systems), metal and steel construction, trade in electronic products, construction and environmental products.
