Romania reports 133,635 cases of respiratory infections, January 20-26, eight more confirmed deaths

The number of acute respiratory infection cases – clinical flu, acute upper respiratory tract infections and pneumonia – in Romania for the week January 20 – 26 is standing at 133,635, up 6.5% from the previous week, and there were also eight more confirmed influenza deaths, the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) reported on Thursday.

The number is also up 0.4% from the same week of the previous season (133,057). The variation in addition to the calculated average of 110,986 cases in the last five seasons, excluding pandemic seasons, was 20.4%.

According to INSP, 10,950 cases of clinical influenza were reported at national level in the same period, as against 9,151 cases in the same week of the previous season and 6,994 in the previous week.

Since the beginning of the season, the following have been reported: 958 laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza, of which 115 cases of unsubtyped influenza A virus, 205 cases of influenza B virus, 131 cases of influenza AH1 virus, 17 cases of influenza AH3 virus, 16 co-infections of influenza virus with SARS-CoV-2, 22 co-infections of influenza virus with RSV.

As of January 26, 1,138,318 people vaccinated against influenza were recorded in the National Electronic Vaccination Register (RENV).
