Romania – Ukraine program, cooperation projects worth 65.9 million euros

The Romania – Ukraine program currently finances 66 projects, with a total value of 65.9 million euros, of which 51.8 million euros are non-refundable funds, according to Agerpres.

The projects aim at both investments in infrastructure and the acquisition of equipment, exchanges of experience and joint training, the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration (MDLPA) which is also the Management Authority, informed on Friday.

On Thursday, the seventh meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee of the Joint Operational Program Romania – Ukraine took place, during which the implementation stage and the necessary measures to accelerate the pace of the projects were analyzed, considering the need to complete them by the end of 2023.

By the date of the meeting, 38 million euros were paid to the beneficiaries, consisting of both pre-financing and final payments for the projects that have already completed their activities, according to a press release sent by MDLPA.

During the meeting, the draft European regulation developed to support the programs was also discussed, in the context of the conflict in Ukraine and the suspension of cooperation with Russia and Belarus. Measures to make project implementation more flexible and to simplify certain program management procedures are targeted.

The Romania – Ukraine Joint Operational Program 2014-2020 is financed by the European Union through the European Neighborhood Instrument, with a budget of 60 million euros. The program addresses the area on the border between Romania and Ukraine. All information about this program can be consulted at www.ro-ua.net.
