The Romanian Academy welcomes the recent decisions made by important institutions of the Romanian state, legitimate and timely, in the face of real threats, particularly dangerous to Romanian democracy and European values and calls for the responsible and conscious solidarity of Romanians with their own interests.
„The Romanian state, through its institutions, must remain the firm guarantor of our European and Euro-Atlantic path. In these difficult moments, when Romania and the Romanian people are the target of a hybrid war of strong virulence, in which sophisticated technical and psychological means are being used, the Romanian Academy once again addresses a call to Romanian society for maturity, lucidity and discernment. It is necessary for the entire political class and civil society to defend together, in a responsible manner, Romania’s balance and stability,” the Romanian Academy conveys on Wednesday.
The Romanian people, in its entirety, must not forget, emphasizes the high forum, that the modern Romanian state, guarantor of individual freedom and freedom of expression, was built after the European model, in an effort of almost two centuries of synchronization with the values of Western civilization.
„To jeopardize our status as a democratic country now, at a time of anger and induced imbalance, is nothing other than a disregard, even an insult to the struggle of our forefathers for freedom, independence, modernity, sovereignty. The confiscation of the notions of sovereignty and patriotism and their corruption in the direction of isolationism, even a more or less disguised pro-putinism, constitute a huge cognitive danger, with consequences that can be dramatic for the country,” emphasizes the academic forum.
The Romanian Academy reaffirms its full assumption of Romanian identity values, which it has worked tirelessly to strengthen and defend since its foundation in 1866.
„We call on all the Romanian people, regardless of their political options, to show responsible and conscious solidarity with their own democratic and European interests. Loving your country and affirming your identity does not mean isolating yourself from the rest of the world, but living in harmony and mutual knowledge. And patriotism cannot be attributed to a particular person or group, patriotism belongs to everyone, asserted firmly and without deviation,” the Romanian Academy further conveys.
