Romanian-Chinese-Italian partnership, in Călărași County, in the 32 MW Photovoltaic Power Plant; Chinese Ambassador present at the launch of the project worth over 25 million euro

Over 25 million euro will be invested in the Photovoltaic Power Plant of almost 32 MW in Stefan cel Mare commune (Călărași county), an Italian investment, made by the URMET Group, with Romanian-Chinese partners, whose „foundation stone” was laid on Friday, in the presence of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Romania, Han Chunlin, representatives of the companies involved and local officials.

The URMET Group has several ongoing projects in Romania in the field of renewable energy, as stated by Mr. Angelo Davoli, the Group’s responsible for Romania.

The investment is an important support for the Ștefan cel Mare commune which, according to Mayor Nicolae Pandea, will eventually benefit from a doubling of the local budget.

At the same time, the plant will also supply a small amount of electricity free of charge to the municipality of Stefan cel Mare, and the investor has already committed to supporting partnerships with local authorities in social and other projects.

In his speech, Ambassador Chunlin pointed out that the field of green energy production is a priority in the current global context, welcoming the participation of the Chinese Pinggao Group in this investment. He pointed out that Pinggao Group is active in four other European countries: Poland, Greece, Bulgaria and Italy.

„I am glad that this investment has been made in Stefan cel Mare, my hometown. I hope we have laid the foundations of a long-term partnership, not only in this commune but also in Călărași county. The investment started two years ago, it is a new project in the sense that three countries – China, Romania and Italy – are involved in this project. It is an investment of over 30 million euro, with benefits not only in terms of green energy, but also benefits for the local community,” said PNL Senator for Călărași, Ciprian Pandea.

In his turn, Sorin Răcășan, representative of Metchim Green Energy, said: „This project is a project of the heart and very big in terms of financing. I want to demonstrate that a Romanian company, which has brought these two big companies that work with budgets of billions of euros all over the world, can carry out large-scale, high-quality projects. We want to be on schedule so that we can continue working on other projects”.

The project started on Friday – the 31.82 MW Stefan Cel Mare Photovoltaic Power Plant – marks another important step in Romania’s clean energy journey, according to PINGGAO GROUP.

„Together with our esteemed partners, including U-ENERGY, Huawei and local authorities, we are committed to delivering this project to the highest standards, contributing to the sustainable development of this region,” said PINGGAO GROUP INTERNATIONAL ENGINEERING CO, adding that the project will significantly contribute to Romania’s sustainable energy future.
