National Defence Minister Angel Tilvar had a meeting on Monday, at the National Defence Ministry (MApN) headquarters, with Japan’s Ambassador in Bucharest Hiroshi Ueda, context in which the two officials tackled topics which were aimed at the prospects of the bilateral cooperation relations in the Defence area, as well as in the context of NATO, the EU and the UN, according to Agerpres.
In this context, it was expressed the commitment to continue the political-military dialogue in view of initiating cooperation in the Defence area, by identifying joint projects in areas such as: military education, military history, humanitarian assistance or post-conflict reconstruction. Furthermore, it was highlighted the necessity to draft and sign a bilateral document which can ensure the judicial framework in the Defence area, according to a MApN release sent to Agerpres.
In respect to NATO agenda, the Romanian official welcomed the recent visit of the NATO Secretary General to Tokyo, in the context of strengthening cooperation of the North Atlantic Alliance with Japan, whereas, in terms of the EU, it was highlighted the tight cooperation between the Union and Japan.
At the same time, the Romanian Defence minister wished success to the partner state in exercising the mandate as non-permanent member state in the UN Security Council, for the 2023-2024 period and highlighted the good cooperation between the Romanian and Japanese servicemen within the UN joint missions, the MApN release showed.
