The Minister of National Defense, Angel Tilvar, had a video conference call with the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd J. Austin III, with discussions revolving around the security situation in the Black Sea, according to Agerpres.

„The agenda of the discussions included recent developments regarding the security situation in the Black Sea region, against the background of the war of aggression waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. At the same time, the two officials discussed the status and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the field of defense, especially the presence of US forces in Romania, the programs for the acquisition of military equipment, as well as ways to strengthen the deterrence and defense posture of the North Atlantic Alliance, including the efforts and projects of the allies in Romania,” reads a press release sent on Wednesday by the Ministry of National Defense.

According to the same source, the US official emphasized that Romania remains a reliable partner of the USA, reiterating the firm support of the United States for the strengthening of the Strategic Partnership.
