National Defence Minister Angel Tilvar had a meeting with Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bucharest Peer Gebauer, on Tuesday, at the headquarters of the National Defence Ministry (MApN), where it was highlighting the need to strengthen the allied presence in the region amid the aggression war waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, according to Agerpres.
According to the MApN, the main coordinates of bilateral military cooperation were also discussed, with an emphasis on the excellent state of collaboration between Romania and Germany.
In this context, also pointed out were the outlooks of deepening cooperation at the level of all categories of armed forces.
Within the meeting, also mentioned was the cooperation between Romania and Germany, in NATO and EU format, in the current security context, with an emphasis on the allied deterrence and defense posture, but also on the efforts to project stability, namely aspects related to cooperation within the European Union’s initiatives in the defence area.
The National Defence Minister expressed his appreciation for Germany’s commitment in implementing the deterrence and defence measures dedicated to the allied Eastern Flank, in particular in the Black Sea area, highlighting, in this context, the participation of the German Air Forces in the enhanced air policing (eAP) missions in Romania.
Moreover, the Romanian official emphasized the importance of continuing joint bilateral and multinational exercises, both in Romania and in Germany, as well as increasing cooperation in the area of training, military and technical-military education.
The two officials agreed on the need to maintain a constant bilateral dialogue, in support of the most effective implementation of joint projects in the defence area assumed in both bilateral and allied contexts.
