Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu is on a official visit to Chisinau, on Monday and Tuesday, at the invitation extended by Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu, a Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) release sent to Agerpres informs.
On the occasion of this visit, the head of the Romanian diplomacy will carry out political consultations and will be welcomed by President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and President of Parliament Igor Grosu, the quoted source showed.
Within the talks, there will be tackled aspects regarding the counteracting of the overall impact on the Republic of Moldova of the war of aggression waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Moreover, topics of priority interest will be discussed, such as cooperation in the area of energy security, the boosting of sectoral cooperation, economic cooperation and assistance measures undertaken by Romania to the benefit of the Republic of Moldova.
A central dialogue topic will be the advancement of the European path of the Republic of Moldova as a result of the Republic of Moldova receiving, in June 2022, the status of candidate state for the accession to the European Union and Romania’s concrete support for this objective, including the opening of EU accession negotiations.
In this context, Minister Aurescu will highlight the fact that Romania will continue to grant priority, comprehensive and solid support to the Republic of Moldova in the demarches which aim the strengthening of energy security, the advancement of the European integration path, as well as the development of institutional capacity to efficiently implement reforms.
