Romanian, French and Dutch foreign ministers visit Cincu National Joint Training Center

Published on

Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Aurescu accompanied by his French and Dutch counterparts Catherine Colonna and Wopke Hoekstra visited on Friday the ‘Getica’ National Joint Training Center in Cincu – Brasov County; the program included meetings with the military personnel, especially French and Dutch, and visits to military facilities jointly used by the allied troops deployed to Romania, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a release, according to Agerpres.

„The Dutch and French foreign ministers’ joint visit to Romania represents a reaffirmation of Romania’s very good cooperation with both countries, on a bilateral but also on a European level and within NATO, as well as the efficient trilateral interaction among Bucharest, Paris and The Hague,” the release states.

In the address given on this occasion, Minister Aurescu mentioned that the presence of allied soldiers at the Cincu Military Base is „a clear proof of allied unity and solidarity and contributes to strengthening NATO’s deterrence and defense posture on the eastern flank, at the Black Sea, which is (…) an area of strategic interest for the North Atlantic Alliance”, representing also the concrete contribution of these states to strengthening the defense and security of Romania and the entire Euro-Atlantic space.

„We are equally grateful to all the partners who concretely demonstrated solidarity and strategic commitment through the decision to send troops to Romania. I thank each of you, dear allied servicemen, for the high mission you have taken on. Your presence here reconfirms the credibility of the Alliance, in a difficult context for European and Euro-Atlantic security. Equally, your presence here is a firm and unequivocal illustration of the Allied principle ‘all for one and one for all’, as provided by Article 5 of the Washington NATO Treaty, a principle that ensures the defense of every centimeter of the Alliance’s territory. (…) Only together can we ensure Euro-Atlantic peace and security! Romania will continue to remain a responsible ally dedicated to the principles of the Alliance, which respects its NATO commitments (…) and I also reiterate on this occasion our determination to make every effort for ensuring Euro-Atlantic security,” Bogdan Aurescu said as cited in the release.
