The ways to intensify the cooperation between Romania and Jordan in terms of commercial exchanges in the agricultural field were the topic of the discussions held, on Tuesday, between the ministers of agriculture of the two countries, Petre Daea and Khaled Hneifat, who visited a sheep farm in Romos commune, western Hunedoara county, write Agerpres.
According to a press release sent by the Hunedoara Prefecture, together with the two ministers, the prefect Calin Marian, the president of the Hunedoara County Council, Laurentiu Nistor, and representatives of public institutions with expertise in the field of agriculture and several farmers from Hunedoara and countrywide took part in the meeting.
„I think it is very important that the Hunedoara business milieu in the agricultural field is stimulated and exposed to development opportunities on foreign markets, and the sale of local Hunedoara products in other countries is a way to achieve this goal. Romania is an important supplier agent of sheep and wheat for Jordan, and I believe that commercial exchanges must be raised to the highest possible level,” the prefect of Hunedoara county was quoted as saying in the mentioned press release.
For his part, the president of Hunedoara County Council, Laurentiu Nistor, expressed his joy that a farm from the county was the host of such a visit, appreciating that in this way an example of good practice at the European level is shown.
„I am glad that the activity of Hunedoara farmers is presented as a solid example of good practice in the field of animal husbandry at the European level. Thanks to the efforts made by farmers and specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Romania has a huge chance to transform Romanian agriculture into a competitive one Hunedoara County is on the road to modernizing agriculture and increasing its agricultural potential, and today’s visit is a strong proof of this,” Nistor said.
The sheep farm in the Romos commune is appreciated by the county authorities as a benchmark for the livestock sector in Hunedoara county.
