Romanian MEP Negrescu announces he will run for new term as vice-president of PES

Published on

Romanian MEP Victor Negrescu (PSD) has announced his intention to run for a new term as vice-president of the Party of European Socialists (PES).

„These days, I participated in the meeting of the leadership of the Party of European Socialists, held online, to prepare the upcoming congress that will take place in Amsterdam.
Along with the president of the PES, Stefan Lofven, I announced my intention to run for a new term as vice-president of the PES at the European level. It is a great responsibility and an honour to be able to represent Romania and our political family at this level,” Negrescu wrote on Facebook on Monday.

The Social Democrat politician bases his candidacy „on the work we have done together: promoting European values, strengthening Romania’s role in the Social Democratic family and supporting projects that bring real benefits to citizens”.

„Through unity and continuity, we can make the Social Democratic voice even stronger in Europe”, expressed his conviction the Social Democrat politician, who is also the national coordinator of PES activists Romania and vice-president of the European Parliament.

The next PES Congress will take place between 16 and 18 October in Amsterdam. AGERPRES
