The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, received, on Monday, Jose Antonio Hernandez Perez-Solorzano, the agreed ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Romania, for the presentation of copies of the letters of credence, on which occasion the Romanian official welcomed the „high” level of the bilateral commercial exchanges, according to Agerpres.

The exchanges reached a new record at the end of 2021, of 4.68 billion euros, the positive trend being maintained in the first six months of this year, when there was an increase of almost 28 percent compared to the same period in 2021, something that proves the „special” potential of bilateral economic cooperation, reads a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent to AGERPRES.

At the same time, Minister Aurescu mentioned the desire of the members of the Romanian community to obtain Spanish citizenship without renouncing the Romanian one, and consequently, the timeliness for a solution to be identified to this end.

Minister Bogdan Aurescu and ambassador Jose Antonio Hernandez Perez-Solozano evoked the importance of a tighter coordination at the level of the European Union and within NATO.

Both sides agreed on the importance of the unity and solidarity of the Euro-Atlantic community in managing the security crisis generated by the war in Ukraine. Aurescu thanked for the measures taken by Spain to consolidate the Eastern Flank, including the air policing programs carried out by the Spanish side over Romania’s airspace in 2021.
