Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu had a meeting on Tuesday, at Victoria Palace, with the president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, in which context he reconfirmed Romania’s firm support for Chisinau’s European path.

„I am very happy to meet again the president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and to reconfirm Romania’s firm support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova. Our common history and fraternal relations are a strong catalyst and guarantee that Romania remains a constant supporter of the economic development, of stability and security of the Republic of Moldova,” Ciolacu wrote on the Government’s X page.

According to a Government press release, the PM emphasized the active support that Romania will continue to give to the European path of the Republic of Moldova and the implementation of the necessary reforms to advance the European agenda, in the context of the European Council’s decision to open EU accession negotiations from December 2023.

„Also, bilateral cooperation projects were discussed during the meeting, especially in the field of infrastructure and in the economic sector, with an emphasis on the support that Romania gives to the development of the investment environment in the Republic of Moldova,” the press release reads.
