Romanian PM Ciuca and Defence minister Dincu, talks at Victoria Palace

Published on

Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca is having discussions, on Monday, at the Victoria Palace, with the Minister of Defense, Vasile Dîncu, according to a Government information, according to Agerpres.

Last week, the prime minister, on a visit to Arges County, declared that he was waiting for the Minister of Defense, Vasile Dincu, to return to the country from the NATO ministerial meeting to have „a very open discussion” about the latter’s opinion regarding the war in Ukraine.

„I am waiting for the minister to return to the country from the NATO ministerial. We must have a discussion as open as possible regarding his opinion. It is not the Government’s opinion and then we will have to settle this aspect very clearly,” Nicolae Ciuca told a press conference.

Vasile Dincu had declared on October 8 that the negotiation represents the only chance for Russia to make peace with Ukraine.

„The war will continue, (…) the only chance for peace may be the negotiation with Russia. Of course, it is a complex negotiation. (…) The countries of the world, NATO, the United States should negotiate security guarantees for Ukraine and a peace with Russia. Alone, Ukraine will not be able to negotiate with Russia, because the political class in Ukraine at this moment cannot afford to assume (…) the loss of territories, after all an unjust loss of territories. It would be too big a defeat for politics,” Dincu had said for the private broadcaster Prima TV.
