Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca said, on Monday evening, on the occasion of the Day of German Unity, that we are currently going through a turning point and a difficult trial in the history of Europe, and that is precisely why the episodes from the continent’s past must serve us as a benchmark in the strategic objectives of promoting rules-based international order, according to Agerpres.
He spoke in this context of the „uninterrupted mission of reviving democracy, the spirit of peace and solidarity”.
„The fall of the Iron Curtain remains a page of living history that makes us even more responsible, especially in these troubled times, to act in support of democracy, human rights, the rule of law. European unity and solidarity are our most valuable virtues that strengthen the aspirations of our nations for freedom, peace and consolidation of democracy. Europe is a project of hope and courage, which we have a firm duty to protect constantly and with determination,” the head of the Executive said.
In this context, Ciuca assessed that „the values that Romania and Germany share represent the cornerstone of the upward course of our bilateral collaboration”.
„The 30 years the Romanian-German friendship celebrates represent the echo of the fundamental ties between our nations and reinforce the value of the partnership in and for Europe, which we are committed to actively promote. The cooperation between Romania and Germany is under the emblem of a spirit of dynamic political dialogue, being animated by a vigorous economic collaboration, including against the background of close social and cultural interconnections. The Romanian community in Germany and the German community in Romania are a strong link in this sense,” Nicolae Ciuca also said.
