Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca will pay a visit to Bulgaria on Saturday to participate in the launch event of the Gas Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria, on which occasion he will have meetings with the President of the Bulgarian Republic, Rumen Radev, and interim Bulgarian Prime Minister Galab Donev, according to Agerpres.

Prime Minister Ciuca will also meet with officials from other countries, including the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, according to a press release of the Government on Friday.

„The inauguration of the Greece-Bulgaria Gas Pipeline is a moment we await with great interest and hope, and which will open an important stage in our efforts at the European level to ensure our energy needs, reducing, at the same time, our dependence on Russian gas. Gas imports from Azerbaijan through this interconnector represent a viable alternative source from now on, which will ensure Romania and other states on the distribution diagram of this gas network access to the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP),” Prime Minister Ciuca stated, according to the same source.

The event will also be attended by regional and European leaders, respectively representatives of companies operating in the energy sector from the states directly interested in the project.

The official delegation accompanying Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca to Sofia includes the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, the head of SNTGN Transgaz S.A., Ion Sterian, the head of SNGN Romgaz S.A., Razvan Popescu, and the deputy CEO of SNGN Romgaz S.A., Aristotel Jude, the same press release reads.
