The government approved on Monday, through a draft law, the signing of the support agreement between the Romanian state and the National Company Nuclearelectrica S.A. for the project of Units 3 and 4 in southeastern Cernavoda, announced the spokesman of the executive, Dan Carbunaru, in a press conference, at the Victoria palace, according to Agerpres.

„Today, the Government, at the proposal of the Ministry of Energy, approved the draft law on the signing of the support agreement between the Romanian state and the National Company Nuclearelectrica S.A. for the project of Cernavoda Units 3 and 4, following that the Parliament will have for approval the signing of this agreement,” Carbunaru said.

He said that, according to estimates, Unit 3 of Cernavoda would enter into operation at the end of the 2030s, and Unit 4 a year later.

„Both will double the contribution of nuclear energy to the national energy system. Basically, from 20 pct, this share of nuclear energy in the national energy grid would go up to 36 pct. New jobs will be created in the nuclear sector and also the supply chain will be developed,” Dan Carbunaru elaborated.
