A delegation led by Sorin Costreie, the Romanian National Coordinator in the field of Intellectual Property, was in Washington on a study visit organized by the US Department of State and the US Department of Justice, on Monday night informed the Embassy of Romania in the USA, on its Facebook page, according to Agerpres.
The delegation also included representatives from the Directorate for Investigating Economic Crimes of the Romanian Police, who were able to familiarize themselves, during the meetings with the American officials, with the approach of the United States regarding the protection and enforcement of the law in the field of intellectual property.
The protection of intellectual property rights is an important priority on the Romanian-American agenda, contributing directly to economic growth, competitiveness and innovation, some of the main objectives of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the USA, the post says.
„Romania and the United States are developing a forward looking prosperity agenda, integrating technology progress, intellectual talent, resilience and entrepreneurship,” the ambassador of Romania to Washington, Andrei Muraru, said regarding the objectives of the Romanian delegation’s visit.
During the visit, the members of the Romanian delegation met with the Assistant Attorney General for the Criminal Division in the US Department of Justice, Kenneth A. Polite, Jr., as well as with other senior representatives of the US DOJ Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section, of the US Patent and Trademark Office, the Department of State, FBI, and federal judges.
